Chris Bourne
Now available at Bloom Fine Art in Towcester, Chris Bourne is a contemporary British painter celebrated for his detailed and atmospheric depictions of the English countryside.
Born and raised in Oxfordshire, Bourne developed a strong connection to nature from an early age. After studying at Berkshire College of Art, he spent over a decade working as an Art Director in London. He later returned to rural life in Surrey to focus fully on his painting, drawing daily inspiration from the landscapes around him.
Bourne’s work is rooted in observation. He spends time walking local footpaths and countryside trails, sketchbook in hand, capturing light, colour, and seasonal changes. These studies form the foundation of his finished paintings.
His technique is distinctive. Built through multiple layers of colour, his work often features fine dotwork that echoes pointillist and impressionist influences. This approach creates texture, depth, and a soft, almost dreamlike quality across each piece.
His landscapes are known for their calm, timeless feel. Rolling hills, open fields, and quiet paths are rendered with precision, yet retain a gentle, atmospheric softness that draws the viewer in.
Chris Bourne’s work appeals to collectors looking for:
