Matt Buckley – Edge Sculpture at Bloom Fine Art

Discover the extraordinary Edge Sculpture collection by Matt Buckley at Bloom Fine Art, Towcester, Northamptonshire.

Bold, contemporary and full of character, Matt Buckley is the British sculptor and creative talent behind Edge Sculpture, a distinctive collection of modern sculptures celebrated for their dramatic designs, intricate textures and remarkable attention to detail.

From majestic lions and powerful gorillas to elegant horses, owls and other wildlife, Matt's sculptures capture the personality, strength and beauty of the natural world. Each piece combines traditional sculpting techniques with a contemporary artistic style, creating striking statement pieces for the home.

The Artist Behind Edge Sculpture

With over 30 years of experience in sculpting and creative design, Matt Buckley began his career working with Robert Harrop Designs, a family-run business specialising in collectable figurines.

During his career, Matt has sculpted and creatively directed collections featuring well-known characters from Wallace & Gromit, Doctor Who, The Beano, Roald Dahl, Thunderbirds and many more.

His passion for creating something different eventually led to the development of Edge Sculpture, a collection designed to combine the visual impact of fine art sculpture with affordability and accessibility.

Working from his studios in Shropshire, Matt has developed an instantly recognisable artistic style that celebrates bold forms, expressive features and beautifully textured surfaces.

The Art of Edge Sculpture

What makes Edge Sculpture so distinctive is the combination of traditional craftsmanship and contemporary design.

Every sculpture begins as an original clay creation, carefully shaped by Matt to capture the character, movement and personality of his chosen subject.

Once completed, moulds are created from the original design, allowing each sculpture to be faithfully reproduced using a specially developed marble-based stone casting material.

Each piece is then individually hand-painted, bringing out the intricate details, rich textures and distinctive colours that make Edge Sculptures so recognisable.

The finished sculptures have a striking, almost prehistoric appearance, combining raw, organic textures with modern artistic expression.

Wildlife Sculptures Full of Personality

The animal kingdom is a major inspiration behind Matt Buckley's work.

His collection features an extraordinary variety of wildlife, from powerful big cats and majestic elephants to charming woodland creatures, birds and other fascinating animals.

Rather than simply recreating their physical appearance, Matt focuses on capturing the personality and spirit of each subject.

The result is a collection of contemporary animal sculptures that feel wonderfully expressive, whether it's the intensity of a tiger's gaze, the strength of a gorilla or the gentle character of a woodland animal.

With a range of sizes and designs available, Edge Sculpture offers something for both established sculpture collectors and those looking for a distinctive gift or decorative statement piece.

Contemporary Sculpture for Every Home

One of the driving ideas behind Edge Sculpture has always been to make striking, beautifully crafted sculpture accessible to a wider audience.

Matt wanted to create artwork that retained the presence and character of a fine art sculpture without the price associated with traditional bronze pieces.

The collection's combination of dramatic design, hand-finished detail and accessible pricing has helped establish Edge Sculpture as a popular choice for contemporary interiors.

Whether displayed on a mantelpiece, console table, bookshelf or as a centrepiece within a room, these sculptures bring character, texture and individuality to their surroundings.
